The night before Christmas Santa was driving his sleigh, delivering presents to all the nice children. After travelling the whole world, he came to Alaska, but there, he was hit by a snowy blizzard, something so terrible that he had not even witnessed at the North Pole. He hurried through the deliveries and went around very quickly, jumping from one chimney to another. But in doing so, ten year old Nick was forgotten by Santa.
Nick’s Disappointment
The next day, excited, Nick ran to the Christmas tree only to be shocked that the cookies and milk were not finished and his presents were missing. With a long face, he went to his mother and father for pacification. His father explained the blizzard last night must have occupied Santa and that must have made him forget Nick. To divert his attention his mother sent him out to play with his friends. As he went out, he heard that his friends were talking about what presents they had gotten from Santa. Almost everyone seemed to have gotten their presents except Nick. Disheartened, he went back home.
On his way home Nick saw a blank sheet drop before him. Surprised, he looked around but found no one. Not wanting to waste it, he took it home. As soon as he reached home he took out a pen and started to write a letter to Santa on that piece of paper. When he was done writing, all of a sudden, the letter disappeared. Nick was quite amazed at the disappearance that happened before him and he sat there scratching his head.
Santa’s shock!
Meanwhile, in the North Pole Bernard (Santa’s elf) received that letter. It was quickly given to Santa … Reading the letter Santa almost cried at the big blunder he had made. Santa ran to his sleigh to check his sack if any gift was remaining. To his utmost surprise, there was one gift still remaining. Wanting to go back immediately, Santa looked at the weather machine in Alaska. There was going to be another blizzard a dozen times more powerful than the last. He had to improvise and decided to go anyway. Little did he know there was going to be another situation waiting for him.
Back in Alaska
Santa sat in his sleigh. He yelled to his nine reindeers Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, and Rudolph to start moving. Santa flew to the west of the North Pole and arrived in the blowing winds of Alaska. The blizzard blew so hard that it broke the sleigh. The nine reindeers were badly tangled up so he had to cut the leashes that were holding them together. Compelled, he took the decision to walk to Nick’s house which was only a few miles away!
Since it was close to midnight, Nick was sleeping in his white cosy bed. As Santa was walking, he ordered the elves to repair the sleigh and get the reindeers harnessed again. Soon Santa was standing at Nick’s doorstep. He walked in through the door and laid the presents under the tree. After that he drank the milk and ate the cookies. The house was dead quiet and only Santa’s footsteps were to be heard. He slowly entered Nick’s room and put a note beside him. The note read-
I am sorry Nick, for the inconvenience.
Merry christmas
From Santa
In the morning Nick found the note on his shoulder. After he read it, he ran to see that the presents were right under the tree. The milk was finished and the cookies were eaten.
Sitting right there on his couch was Santa who winked & said – Sometimes you need to risk it for the biscuit!
