Zoos should not exist

Zoos should not exist

It is ridiculous even to think about humans put behind bars in order to showcase them to others. If this is ridiculous, don’t you think that animals also deserve to live freely where they belong? Domesticated pets can still be kept at home or at certain other places but what about the wild animals? Wild animals are supposed to be in the wild, when they are placed in zoos for fun, it does a lot more harm than any real good. This is why zoos should definitely NOT EXIST!

Tranquilizers

Ask anyone and they will tell you that zoo animals are fed medicines and that’s why they are so calm. Wild animals are not meant to stay calm and sleepy especially when such maddening activities like crowding, shouting and flashing of cameras take place. Feeding animals tranquilizers can certainly KILL the poor things! They could have serious allergies or they could feel weak. It’s fun to see an animal play and jump around! Would you really like to see the Jaguar asleep, as though it has been fixated there? There’s no point in going to the zoo if one cannot see the animals in their true spirit. I, for one, would rather watch a documentary or see a picture of the animal on the net which is so very convenient.

Away from their Habitat

Anyone who has ever been to a zoo would agree that a zoo is a far cry from their natural habitats. The animals that live in zoos are trapped in cages or limited to an area. They have nowhere to go and they live in small spaces. This can be very suffocating and weird. These innocent creatures are away from their homes and they probably miss their herds terribly. Certain wild animals display a very prominent social behaviour, like the lions, elephants, monkeys, etc. These animals like to live in groups. In zoos, the animals are put alone in cages or at best with one or two more animals of their kind. They do not get a natural life and are torn away from their groups.

No privacy

Just as humans are not always happy to have people around, animals aren’t always happy when humans are around. They need privacy! Just like us. Won’t it be irking to have people stare at you while you’re sleeping? YES, it definitely will be! And that’s what animals must feel when they are constantly watched! Imagine, sitting in a cage, being watched the whole day, having no privacy and getting disturbed every millisecond!

I am sure you would surely agree with me by now that zoos cause great harm to animals. The animals live in filthy, unhygienic and cramped surroundings, away from their loved ones and are fed medicine so they are kept quiet. I don’t think animals deserve anything like this, after all, what would you do if you were in the animal’s shoes? I strongly believe that animals should be treated with respect, they should be let free with their loved ones in their natural habitats and zoos should cease to exist!
