Introduction
You all must have heard the story of Sleeping Beauty…
At the naming ceremony of a king and queen’s long-wished-for child, seven good fairies are invited to be the godmothers to the infant princess- Aurora. As the fairies are attending the banquet at the palace, an old fairy enters. As everyone believed her to be deceased, she is neither noticed nor welcomed. Six of the seven good fairies offer their gifts of beauty, wit, grace, dance, song, and goodness to the infant princess. Just then, the evil fairy, Maleficent, fuming with anger at being neglected and forgotten, comes forward and curses the infant princess. She says that the princess will one day prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die.
The seventh fairy, who has not yet given her gift, attempts to reverse Maleficent’s curse. However, she can only do so partially. Instead of dying, Princess Aurora will fall into a deep sleep for 100 years along with the rest of the kingdom. She would then awake and resume life as normal. This is her gift of protection.
Prologue
98 years pass peacefully. But the evil fairy Maleficent cannot let Sleeping Beauty wake up to lead a normal life. She calls upon her pet dragon Hibiscus to burn down the whole kingdom while it is still asleep.
The Story
The noisy hall started to get noisier when Harry walked in. He sat down at the end of the Gryffindor table and read the first two lines from the Daily Prophet. “It’s her again!” said Hermione, “that wicked, filthy witch just won’t go away!”.
“Bloody hell Harry, have you got a letter yet?” asked Ron with a rather serious face.
“No bu- HEDWIG!” shrieked Harry and everyone else on the table. Hedwig had dropped right on top of Harry’s chicken stew. She seemed to be holding a very fancy and pretty letter.
“Oh Harry! It looks like their letter!” said Hermione as she snatched the letter from Hedwig’s beak. It was a neat, long note from their close friends, the good fairies of Moors Kingdom.
Dear Hogwarts Trio (Harry, Ron and Hermione)
Have you read the Daily Prophet yet? Well, you should’ve because it doesn’t give good news. Maleficent isn’t planning on letting the last two years pass peacefully. I heard that she has captured one of the flower dragons, Hibiscus, and put the Acialartion spell on her. Hibiscus isn’t in a very good state right now and Maleficent definitely won’t help her. She has sent Hibiscus to flatten down Moors kingdom and make sure that Aurora doesn’t wake up from her nap.
I am not asking for a huge help, but I think that you are the only people who can reverse this spell. Now before you send a letter to us asking why we can’t be the ones to do it, let us tell you, we actually can’t do it. Maleficent is way stronger than us and since you’ve dealt with these things before, we are relying on you. The brooms should be outside, ask Hagrid.
Yours sincerely,
Coaella, the highest fairy godmother with the others.
Harry looked at Ron and Hermione and ran outside the dining hall. Nobody talked to each other until they made it to Hagrid’s hut. They could see three beautiful sets of brooms, aligned on Hagrid’s walls. “Come on then, these ain’t gonna fly themselves”.
The trio made their way on the brooms and rose up in the air like a bullet. These brooms were hundred times better than what they used to sell at Hogwarts. It was a smooth and beautiful journey for the three young witches and wizards. They could see millions of little islands, some covered with grass and some with sand. It was very soon that they could see Moors kingdom in its not-very-pretty form.
The massive dragon had noticed the three eye-catching brooms flying around. Its mould green skin colour disgusted Ron and he started making weird disgusting faces.
“Stop it Ronald!” vexed Hermione. The Hogwarts Trio landed far away from Hibiscus and slowly separated into different directions.
Since Harry had ‘Great Luck’, he came face to face with the wretched and dangerous dragon. Hibiscus’ eyes became more fierce while looking at Harry. It was as though she would gobble up Harry in one bite. Harry was stupefied. The mere size and stink of the dragon was making him freak out. Having almost lost his mind, he started running. Lashing a spiky purple venomous tail, and giving a blood-curdling cry, Hibiscus stormed after him. After a short chase Harry entered the castle. He was making sure to stay away from the ferocious monster. As he looked out from the windows, he could see no trace of Hibiscus. Harry’s brain was working quickly.
As he was standing there quietly his brain was running around trying to figure out what to do. He was startled when Ron came running and screaming, waving wildly, “Bloody hell, bloody hell, bloody hell!!!” He had come in from the other entrance of the castle. Harry turned around and saw Hibiscus roaring her heart out. One of her limbs was stretched into the castle and it was coming towards him. Just then Hermione appeared from nowhere amidst a smoky mirage and threw a spell, aiming it directly at the dragon’s head. The dragon roared with all its might and the whole castle shook and echoed with its mighty roar. Then, the spell exploded, turning Hibiscus unconscious. Harry shouted “Expelliarmus!” and the dragon soon fell on the floor with an ear-splitting thud. Harry, Ron and Hermione fell on their backs.
“Do you know the spell?” asked Hermione. Harry nodded and quickly got up to go closer to the dragon.
He could hear the hot breaths of the dragon.
“Lephartion!” roared Harry as the dragon slowly opened her eyes. Her skin started turning into a soft lavender colour. Her tail, looking like the stem of a Hibiscus flower stretched out and turned into a long flower stem shape. She opened her beautiful green eyes with a gentle look in them. Sitting up straight, she looked at Harry, Ron and Hermione and opened her mouth as if to say something. Pink dust came out of her mouth and soon filled the air.
“I think she’s doing her magic,” said Ron. The pink dust started settling on top of the castle. Everything that was ruinous and dry started getting repaired. Hibiscus looked around and smiled before flying off in the air like a beautiful Hibiscus flower. The Hogwarts Trio had been successful in their mission. They had been able to release an innocent soul from the evil clutches of Maleficent. And, in doing so, inadvertently, they had been able to break her wretched curse of ninety-eight years ago as well.
Harry, Ron and Hermione went on their brooms and rose up in the air to look at the beautiful castle again. They saw the Moors Kingdom rising up from its long sleep of 98 years. Aurora woke up from her slumber and stretched her arms. “She is so beautiful,” murmured Harry. Hermione and Ron were also mesmerized by her innocent beauty. Ron took hold of a small cloud and blew it towards her. The cloud landed on her lap and she looked up to see where it had come from. But by that time, the three teenagers had disappeared…
