What a confounding seven years it has been in school. From the first day I stepped into the class to the last time I walked out of a primary classroom, it has been one whimsical voyage. It had its ups and downs but this thrilling escapade is worth remembering and it has been a huge part of me. Hence let me bid my adieu to primary school as I step into a new chapter of my life.
2016 – 2017
As I graduated from preschool in 2016 I was ready to take a step into ‘Big School.’
I can still recall the day when I had my orientation at my new school. I was fluttering with nervousness and excitement. As I entered a room in this school, my inquisitive eyes peered across the room to see so many imprudent kids acting so doltishly across the flamboyant sport equipment set out on the floor. My nervous instincts kicked in that day causing me to walk around my dad instead of cooperating with my new peers.
Finally, my dad saved the day and found a girl whose characteristics were much like mine. We both relished each other’s company, and from that day forth she became my buddy at school.
2018- 2019
2018 and 2019 were two breath- taking years. I achieved much in those two years. I obtained multiple Principal awards, trophies and badges. In 2018 I wrote a speech about my beloved grandparents for a competition. This speech took me to the finals. Then once again in 2019 I created a speech about prayer. It was fancied by many and I won the competition for my grade. Furthermore, in 2019, I acquired a code of conduct badge at the end of the year and I was thrilled to the brim for this colossal achievement.
2020
In 2020, we moved houses. I was gripped to the edge of my seat when I found out that we were going to move into an exceptional house but my school in 2020 was slightly unpolished. Moving into a new school required me to make new friends and become familiar with the new school’s teaching methods. Eventually, I found my place in this new world by a simple speech I wrote for a competition. This speech won the hearts of my teachers and I cherished the rest of the year.
2021 – 2022
2020 may have been a year in which I had a few hitches in making friends, but the next two years were prodigious. I made friends who had the ability to understand my feelings and allowed me to thrive as a learner. In these two years I had cooperative teachers who cheered me through the hindrances that came in my way. However, 2021 also had a few aspects to it which I loathed- I had to wear glasses because of my poor eyesight and a vast majority of the year was spent at home because of the pandemic. In addition, most of 2022 was also spent wearing a mask to school every day.
2023
2023 was the last year for me in primary school. This year would be my favourite out of all as I had teachers who allowed me to expand my knowledge and discover new aspects of Maths and English. This year was the ideal opportunity for me to shine and make friends who were more nurturing and altruistic. 2023 also brought some thrilling expeditions. I got the opportunity to be independent in Canberra, athletic in sport competitions and brainy in composing speeches. In the end, my favourite part of being a year 6 student was learning from mistakes to become a better student in my school.
Primary school has been pretty exhausting with its roller coaster of strangers turning to friends, teachers discovering my speaking prowess and my parents taking a comfortable back seat in my school journey (knowing that I am a diligent student). This exploratory voyage has made me confident to sail across the next ocean in my life – High School. I am sure that High school will be much more fun and I will find plenty of more reasons to fall in love with school once again.
