Christmas Curse of the Grinch

Christmas Curse of the Grinch

I am Benjamin, a resident of Sydney since the day I was born- that is since 2003.
One late evening in December, I was wandering in the bylanes of my favorite suburb when I realized that it was a very chilly day. Christmas was in two days and this served as a gentle reminder to me to buy some gifts for my friends. So, I visited the store, but I couldn’t find any gifts. Asking where the gift department was, I went to the caretaker. Finding him, I got started with talks about Christmas and Santa. Amused with my talk, the janitor laughed, “Do you really think that Santa exists?” He laughed so loud that I began to doubt if Santa was real.

As I walked around the town, I hardly saw any Santa decorations. And then, it dawned upon me. The Grinch had indoctrinated all of humanity. He had out a curse on Christmas!

I phoned my non-brainwashed friend.

Bringgg! Briinngg! Briingg!

His phone rang, “Hey Luke, Christmas is in danger and so is Santa.” When Luke received the news, he was stiff as a rock. I told him that I wished to restore Christmas to its former glory and bring back Santa to the people. “What can we do?” I asked Luke. After a moment’s silence, Luke said, “I know.”

Luke didn’t tell what his idea was but all he knew was that it was somewhere far. Taking a cab, Luke and I reached this far off place. It was as cold as my freezer. It was then that I realized that we were at the North Pole to visit Santa. My teeth were cluttering as it was freezing cold. Then we saw a gigantic cane right in the middle of all the snow. It was not a normal one, it was in fact “Santa’s House!” We walked in. The room was decorated with all kinds of Christmas ornaments. Then we saw Santa. He was loading up gifts for Christmas. We told him about the curse of the Grinch. Santa became furious. Dropping all his work he went out to look for Grinch.

Grinch was not very far away. We saw Grinch with his skin all green and his teeth all yellow near Santa’s house. Santa picked up Grinch with fury and threatened to bury him under the ice if he did not fix the stupid curse. Without an attempt to argue, Grinch started mumbling something that seemed like some enchanted spell. Seeing this Santa loosened his grip and kept him on the ground. As soon as Grinch touched the ground, he escaped out of Santa’s grip and started running.

Me and Luke chased after him and tackled him down but he managed to get out of our grip too. He took his sleigh and shouted to us, “I am off to New Zealand for a nice holiday while you can keep wondering what my curse will do.”

As we saw Grinch going away in his sleigh, we wondered what to do next. In the meantime, Grinch’s curse had already started spreading in the world.
The entrepreneurs decided to take away the festival discounts as they did not believe in Christmas anymore. Gingerbread, candy canes and a lot of other Christmas goodies just disappeared from the bakeries. Something came over the adults who stopped purchasing gifts as they got this weird notion in their heads that gifts were a waste of money.
Looking through the magical globe Santa realized that Christmas magic was waning off and it was in grave danger. He told Luke and me to do some quick thinking before we lost Christmas forever.

Just then, Santa’s elf Jude pointed towards Santa’s sleigh which we could use to go to New Zealand. Santa was okay with the idea and he told Jude to get the sleigh ready. As Santa had to be at the North Pole to avoid any further mishappening, he told Luke and me to go with Jude to find the Grinch.
With Jude as our driver, we left in a dash for New Zealand. We actually did not know where New Zealand was. It took hours to get to New Zealand as we went spinning around the world in search of our destination. Finally, we found New Zealand and headed to Auckland. As we were famished after the long travel, first and foremost we went to a nice fancy restaurant to eat some food. Incidentally, the Grinch was also there. Now we had to take him down.

We tippy-toed to the Grinch’s table as he was busy munching on his chicken burger. We attacked him and caught hold of him by gathering up from all sides. The whole action caused a lot of attention in the eating joint but we managed to capture Grinch and escape the place with a grin.

We tortured him till he gave up his entire box of spells to us and called back the one that he had drifted into the world. By this time we had already reached the North Pole.

As we handed over the Grinch to Santa, he cast his magical spell. The whole world seemed to forget Grinch’s spell in a flash.
Christmas was remembered once again. The discounts came back, the goodies reappeared and people once again went crazy shopping for their loved ones.

Since the Grinch had caused a lot of trouble, he was sent to Santa’s jail for the rest of his life. And to commemorate this naughty act Santa brought out a special toy that year which was called- Grinch in the Prison!
