Media, a myriad of endless thoughts, answers and problems. Media is something that seems to have a big influence on our world making people try new things, and at times, act or do things in a particular manner. It also shapes and influences the way we think and comprehend or the way we frame our perspectives on things. Most of the time people don’t realize the bitter reality, 80% of people believe that media does not present a clear picture of things. A word of caution- Media isn’t always what you think it is!
Poking its Nose
You may not know it but, Media pokes its nose in a lot of things other people don’t want you to know. An example of this is when police are investigating a case and don’t want anyone to know anything about it or have any information leaked. Media, half of the time, builds news around it which becomes very annoying and even disruptive at times. Another instance is when celebrities are getting married or grieving about someone’s death. Sensitive information or videos get shown on news channels. News and articles are made, without the allowance of the people. Media starts invading people’s lives, against their wills and wants. Therefore, Media isn’t what you think!
Hype and Bias
Another reason why Media is so deceptive is because it blinds people. Do you realize how many extra sensory words that shape your perspective are used in Media? Any Media platform alters and picks out things that are one-sided, which then influence the way you think about something. That is, even if it isn’t true! Media publicly supports political causes that favour their opinion, and not what actually may be the best. It also creates this big hype on new product launches. Most people get engulfed and try or watch the product and later discover that it is not really as good as it was showcased to be. The undeniable fact is that most of the time, Media is not very authentic; in fact most of the time it is fake.
Exaggerations
It is a hard fact that Media is the distortion of reality. In most cases of fake news, Media either only displays the rosy picture or the grim picture. Media has exaggerated language, turning something simple into a big problem. Just imagine you cut your finger. The Media could make a whole news report or an article about it beginning by saying- ‘Blood has been spilled!’ These kinds of exaggerations tend to play on the minds of readers and people ultimately lose interest in the media.
Surely even you would agree now that Media isn’t always what it claims to be. Media pokes its nose in everything, it blinds people, and it distorts reality. It is a powerful platform that can do a lot of good and in order to do that they need to change the way they present the news. It should be unbiased, realistic, and authentic. Only if the media keeps a responsible approach, will it earn back its respect and then possibly we will be able to say once again that Media IS actually what you think it is!
