The book “ Last Kids on earth” is a spectacular series of stories written by the American writer Max Brallier. It is a fictional world of monster-verse, aliens and zombies that takes your imagination to a completely new dimension. 4 kids, named Jack, June, Dirk and Quint are the last kids alive on earth and probably the only humans! The kids go through different challenges to save the earth as portals to the monster-verse open and countless aliens, monsters and zombies appear. Jack- as the leader of the group, has to sacrifice everything he owns and loves. He wants to help his friends and keep them alive. While going through difficult times, the kids manage to gain powers from the monsters and must leave their hometown to close the portals.
The Plot
The Last Kids on Earth includes 15 fascinating books to read. The events that happen in the story give you goosebumps all along the way. Set in Wakefield, Massachusetts, the plot moves in a riveting fashion and there is never a dull moment. The almost childish treatment of even the most serious situations, the cool tree fort made by Jack and his friends and the slick video-game-like action keeps one going with their eyes glued to the book. Even though there are some gory bits, it is a very interesting book that would leave you on a cliffhanger every now and then.
Teamwork
The series Last Kids on Earth is full of lessons on teamwork. The books are interspersed with plenty of heart-warming moments where the kids help out each other. Even though Jack, June, Quint and Dirk have their own skills and powers, they need each other to defeat the monsters. Last Kids on Earth is full of hilarious things too! Jack and Quint are best buddies, in fact, they think they are siblings! On the other hand, June and Dirk can never be buddies; in fact, they hate each other. Even though some characters can’t stand each other, they still come together in difficult situations. They have each others back as they know that kindness always pays.
Characters
The kids are full of adventure! They are skilled, happy and they know how to be friends. No wonder they survive the apocalypse. There are countless events happening, where the kids are seen defeating a succession of monsters, one after the other! The kids fall into various circumstances- violent, emotional, exciting, hilarious and challenging and all these situations are beset with a lot of adventure. Throughout the series, there is a strong undercurrent of bravery, wit and daredevilry. The kids emerge as survivors who go on tackling one problem after the other.
As the popularity of the book has grown, even a cartoon series has been made out of it. Everything in the cartoon is an exact replica of the books, so you can’t miss out even a wee bit! The Last Kids on Earth, a book or a cartoon, is an amazing entertainer for pre-teeners. Be it the monsters, the aliens, or the monster-verse, all come alive in the most unlikely fashion and make way for an incredibly interesting series.
