School trips are really amazing. In my 6 years of formal schooling, I have been on various trips. Believe me, every time I have come back a happier person. I have been on small trips and long ones. Although every school trip is unique, one thing is common that they teach you a lot of stuff. I know you might disagree with me but trust me, school trips are GOOD! You can learn new skills, understand a subject better and you can make friendships that last a really long time, only if you go on school trips.
You can learn life skills that can be really useful or learn how to do some fun things like art and craft. When students are together, they can help each other in learning new things by breaking inhibitions. Learning new skills also becomes easy because the instructors explain it in the actual setting where that thing should happen. I have some memorable experiences of learning what to do when a jellyfish stings you or how to bandage an injured person.
Another reason why school trips are good is that you can make new friends. No matter if the ride is short or long, you always will have a friend next to you. Even during the trip, some of the tasks are done in groups. You can be paired up with anyone in the class. With teamwork and collaboration, you and your classmate will be like two peas in a pod by the end of the activity. When you make a new friend, it can be awkward the first few minutes. But, once you get to know them, you might notice that you two have similar interests. This way, school trips are a great way to get some new friends.
Many of the excursions are based on a school subject. If you don’t know much about the subject there is a high chance you will be in a pickle. But if you go on excursions, they explain the topic of the subject more clearly and lucidly than your teachers telling the class about the topic. For instance, we were once taken into the Eureka Gold Fields where we set up tents and lived like the people in the 1850s who had come to Australia for the gold rush. The experience clarified the topic in a much more comprehensive manner than our teachers could ever have.
So, there is no doubt that school excursions are amazing because you can learn new skills, understand your subjects better and get to know plenty of like-minded people whose friendships can last a really long time.
