Chapter 7 -A Final Stance
They all rushed in the crystal room and the entity was already hovering above the crystal. The elves were revealed to be wizards themselves who had created a barrier against the spirit but Chris knew that the barrier wouldn’t hold off the spirit forever. Chris furiously dumped his stuff and told Santa his plan and why the two animals before them were so relevant to the plot. Santa was initially surprised but his resolution soon became crystal clear. The cat and mouse were still standing in confusion but Chris told them that everything would be okay and they should follow his lead. The time to save magic was now and the fate of all magical beings was on the line.
The two wizards summoned their staves and began chanting in the celestial startounge, the language that ancient magicians heard when they connected with the magic stone for the first time. Soon Tom began to feel very sensitive to the magic around him. Jerry began to feel the power of both the two magicians and the beast attempting to destroy the magic. Auras formed along the outline of the two animals. They felt their power surge again, in much more potency than when they had helped Santa to restart the factory.
Santa linked with Tom and Tom became the ‘spirit familiar’ of Santa. Chris linked with Jerry and Jerry became the ‘spirit familiar’ with Chris. The crystal also began to shine. The spell sent forth multiple chained charms which wrapped around the beast and soon the beast was contained. They thought this was the end but nothing happened after that. The spell could only contain the beast and Chris didn’t know how the two magicians would be able to subdue the spirit for 1000 years. All hope began to fade, just then Tom and Jerry had flashbacks. Tom and Jerry began to remember the last battle they had with the spirit. They remembered how the magicians had sacrificed themselves to put the spirit to sleep. They couldn’t allow that to happen to Santa and Chris.
With a heavy heart they looked at each other. “So, that’s what happened all those years ago.” Tom said.
“But we can’t let history repeat itself, you know what we have to do,” Jerry said.
They turned around and looked at the two magicians. They looked at them in a bittersweet manner.
“You’ve done well.” Jerry said.
“Our previous masters would be proud of you.” Tom added.
The ‘spirit familiars’ then surged their energies. The world outside the north pole began to see the skies surge with massive energy. The constellation in the sky began to glow brighter than ever. People looked in awe, wonder and fear- Was the world ending? The two animals began to glow even brighter and soon all anyone could see was two bright lights. They had lost their physical forms and were in true essence spirits now. The chained charms around the spirit were now locked and there was nothing the entity could do. Tom and Jerry began to swirl around the chained monster and before anyone could react they burst through the roof of the crystal room. The beast soared into the sky, far beyond the atmosphere and soon nothing could be seen. Everything felt silent.
Chapter 8 -The Dust Settles
“Are they really gone?” asked Santa.
“They really are gone.” Chris said. There was sadness in his voice.
Just then a huge explosion lit up the sky. It showed a nebula and around it was the constellation of a cat, coloured in blue and the other was a constellation of a mouse, coloured in orange.
“No, they aren’t gone, they are doing what they were called to do in the first place.” Santa said, “We might not see them, but that doesn’t mean they’re gone.”.
While they looked at the constellation, they felt a magical aura descending upon the world. The crystal grew in size and power, and Santa’s full power was back. “Now let’s not disappoint them and let’s go deliver presents to children around the world.” Santa shouted. Chris felt a sense of debt towards the two animals and remembered why they did this in the first place. “All right then, may Christmas come to all,” murmured Chris.
The next night Santa and his elves had finished making all the presents and the only thing left to do was to deliver the presents to all the children. With more magic than ever at his disposal, Santa whizzed around the world, effortlessly dropping presents at the foot of Christmas trees around the world. As the world woke up to presents under their trees, the faith in Santa grew stronger and both Santa and Chris knew that Christmas was a total success.
After all the rush of Christmas, Chris looked up at the stars. The two pets he had got to know for only a day were now forever tasked with the guarding of an ancient evil. He wondered deep in his heart if he would ever see them again.
Epilogue
From up in the stars, far, far away, the spirits of Tom and Jerry looked upon earth. Both of them were now very happy and they knew it would be their final moments with these memories. Slowly one by one their memories started fading away. The last memory that they held onto was the face of Chris, the one who had taken care of them for so many years. They wanted to see him again but that was a day that would never come.
It was 25th December and as they glowed in the sky, their Christmas gift that night was the final memories of their beloved owner.
