When a book opens up, you automatically become a part of it. With books, you embark upon unforeseen adventures – some can be tedious while others can be captivating. The tranquility you feel when you open a novel is not what you would find viewing the television. Hence, books are always more fun. One of the most pleasurable books that have ever come across is called ‘The Magic Faraway Tree’ written by the very popular children’s fiction writer, Enid Blyton.
The Magic Faraway Tree collection’s main theme deals with friends and families going together through the roller-coaster of life. The whole act comes together with 3 siblings who share tenderness with each other. They come to the countryside from a megapolis. Their cottage has shell pink and milky-coloured roses hanging down the walls along with sweet honeysuckle adjacent to the door. After a few days, these children discover that there’s an enchanted forest with a preternatural tree. They make the choice of climbing it, exposing themselves to unique experiences, intriguing adventures and a tree full of magical creatures. They meet creatures such as the pixie with the tender heart or the man with the moon as a face.
The trio often ends up resolving problems that could cause dilemmas. For instance, one time their friends were stuck in a horrendous place and the 3 siblings were faced with the huge dilemma of whether to let them be or risk their own lives to bring them back. This and many more problems concerning friendship and values have been beautifully worded in these captivating books.
The books may sound implausible but we can clearly see morals being conveyed out of the books such as family comes first or one shouldn’t be prejudiced. There are also exquisitely detailed characters and places, and the lucid descriptions really help visualise everything clearly. The book talks about some interesting lands that arrive on top of the tree regularly. The way the writer weaves the names with the descriptions is amazingly awesome. Some such lands are ‘land that is upside down’, ‘the land with mean people’, ‘the saucepan land’, etc.
This set of books may be leisurely but they sure are intriguing. This imaginative series surely taught me how to be a better person by taking me on fantastic adventures while sitting on my couch. I highly recommend this series for all ages but mostly for children under 12 so that they may also enjoy the simple innocence of life in the most interesting manner.
