Many delicacies tend to dominate the regional platters, ‘Sarson ka Saag’ being one of them. Most of us might have heard the name of this dish whenever the topic of North Indian cuisine comes up. Even though it’s very good for health yet all things healthy are not really palatable. On behalf of all children, I would like to advocate that we must ban ‘Sarson Ka Saag’. With its soggy appearance and yucky taste, this green vegetable is definitely very repulsive.
Taste and Texture
Many people like this soggy dish but other people, like me, avoid eating it. It has excessive Desi Ghee, an unpalatable aroma and insipid taste. While eating this nauseating dish, people are most likely to puke, since it is extremely slimy which many people can’t handle. It actually looks like a thick gooey liquid like algae. It’s completely bland which typical Indians hate. Without the spicy-ness the dish is completely tasteless. Also, the moment you dip your hands in it, it feels extremely icky and there is no doubt about the fact that it is totally, completely inedible!
The Consistent Eating
You must get bored of eating the same dish every day, wouldn’t you? But the North Indians don’t! During winters they eat Sarson Ka Saag almost every day of the season. They use it as a daily soap which might never end. I am afraid that one day some North Indians will preserve some Sarson Ka Saag from winters and then eat it in summers too. If this happens it would be a nightmare come true especially for innocent souls like me who like colour, variety and tanginess in their food.
If I was the president of the country, I would surely ban this boiled concoction. It comes straight out of the garden, ends up in a cooker, and ultimately gets served to clueless people like me. Well, if that truly happened, I wonder which dish would be used as a daily soap by the North Indians. Whatever it might be, I do hope that it won’t be so revolting, depressing, and wishy-washy like ‘Sarson Ka Saag.’
