On June 25, 2021, me and my family went on a trip to Zion National Park. We first had a super long car ride- 5 hours long. We saw a lot of cool things like the largest solar panel and three sand tornadoes right next to us. When we arrived at Zion we first took a few pictures at the entrance sign and then we drove to our hotel. When we got out of the car, we saw many people and a humongous pool. It was kind of late so we just went to our room and slept.
Angels Landing
The second day we were really excited for Angels Landing at Zion National Park. A thirty-minute drive brought us to a short bridge we had to walk across. A steep trail which was very high and rather scary was next to be mastered. We saw lots of cool animals like tarantulas, chipmunks etc. While my dad was busy clicking photos, I was kind of exhausted. Initially it had not looked that hard but I was wrong. I was so tired I simply couldn’t move my legs. After some rest we started walking again. Walking through a tedious trail, we reached a very great height that was flat! There were so many people standing around resting. I was so amazed by how far up we were. I saw Angels Landing in some distance. It was so thin and really rocky.
Waiting and more Waiting!
While we were contemplating what to do next, we suddenly realized that my brother and dad were no where to be seen. My mom guessed that they were probably at Angels Landing already. Instructing me to wait there, Mom went up to find them. After about 20 minutes of waiting, I saw dad and my brother walking down from a different trail. They asked where mom was and I told them that she had gone up to Angels Landing to look for them. Exasperated and slightly out of breath, dad instructed us to wait while he went up this time to look for mom. While we waited, I looked around leisurely and was completely floored by the rugged brown peaks. Finally mom dad came back and we rushed back to the hotel. We got to see a lot of deer on the way back.
The Narrows
Next day came and we planned to go to another hiking trail beset with many wondrous water beauties- The Narrows. We got all the gear we needed and hit the road. We got there and went on this one-mile trail. When we saw the river, it was really muddy and hard to get through. There were way too many people. We arrived at the area we wanted to stop at because it was really narrow like a gorge. At the top of the mountain, we could see a big rock with water flowing on top of it. After wading through the shallow waters for about 5-6 miles, we finally retraced our steps. We got back really quickly and totally tired. Arriving back at the hotel, we just relaxed. The next day we knew we were going to have another long day, so we all slept well in time.
In all it was a muddy yet exciting tour that gave me some goosebumps along the way. I had fun, spent some very good family time and looked down from some of the scariest heights. My favorite out of this whole trip was Angels Landing. It was the coolest thing I did in the whole of my summer break.
